Kegler discusses participating in the Meredith March, and the Mule Train (SCLC Poor People's Campaign, 1968). He recalls being arrested in Jackson at the age of 14, and participating in a hunger strike in jail. He also discusses the Black Power movement and Malcolm X.

In 1979 he was asked to become the President of the local NAACP, and when he did, was fired from his job. He filed suit against his employer which was settled out of court. He then began working full time for the NAACP. Neely was elected to Grenada City Council in 1977.
