From the Ellin (Joseph and Nancy) Freedom Summer Collection; Typewritten letter from Mary Sue (last name unknown) to friends, dated February 1, 1965, in which she explains the intimidation and fear that surrounds African Americans and civil rights workers in Shaw, Mississippi. According to the letter, lawyers in various parts of the state tried to prove cases of discrimination, harassment, and intimidation against African Americans trying to vote. Also mentions the progress of the freedom school and its students, as well as Freedom Day.
