Oral history.; Lusia Harris-Stewart was born February 10, 1955, in Minter City, Mississippi. She attended Amanda Elzy High School in Greenwood, Mississippi. In 1977, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from Delta State University. In 1975 she played on the World University Team and the Pan-American Team. In 1976, she played basketball in the Olympics where she earned the distinction of scoring the first two points in the 1976 Olympics. In 1976 she was selected Homecoming Queen of Delta State University. In 1992, she was inducted into the National Basketball Hall of Fame, and in 1999, she was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. In 1984, she completed a Master's Degree in health and physical education. For two years, she coached at Texas Southern University. On the high school level, she coached for several years. She is currently teaching special education and coaching at Greenwood High School in Greenwood, Mississippi, as an assistant coach.
