At this point he is at the "start of the session." In the next frame, labeled "middle of session," the "remap" log is much bigger, and the "other problems" stack is taller. In the last frame,"last few days," the "remap" log is huge, and the "Legislature" is overwhelmed.

Between Nixon and the mailbox is a gauntlet with giant figures holding paddles labeled "Patronage." The giant figures are labeled "Senate" on one side of the line and "House" on the other side.

The footprints are labeled "Criminal activity." The police officer looks up with alarm to the top of a very tall hurdle labeled "Supreme Court suspect questioning ruling" which he must go over to continue the pursuit. The suspect's footprints appear before, under, and after the hurdle. The cartoon caption reads, "Newest hurdle."
