Lee was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 1948 and engaged in private practice with J. Ed Franklin from 1948 to 1954. From 1954 to 1971, he practiced law as a member of the firm of Lee, Moore and Countiss. Lee was elected and served as Hinds County Judge from 1971 to 1977 and as Circuit Judge of Hinds and Yazoo Counties from 1977 to 1982.
