An autobiography written by Confederate Brigadier General Mark Perrin Lowrey and addressed to Colonel Calhoun Benham for a book Benham was writing. Lowrey was born in McNairy County, Tennessee, and was a resident of the Corinth, Mississippi, area at the time of the Civil War. He was a Colonel of the 32nd Mississippi Infantry, and after Chickamauge in 1863,he was promoted to brigadier-general. After the war, he was a Baptist minister, and founder of the Blue Mountain Female Institute.
