Oral history.; Transcript of interview conducted on June 28, 1999 with Eddie Thomas. Eddie Thomas Sr. is a barber and a resident of Vicksburg, Mississippi. Mr. Thomas was born in Sharkey County at Nitta Yuma, Mississippi in 1926 and moved to Vicksburg in 1946. He was educated in the public school system in Vicksburg. He worked for Mr. E. C. Clay in the Palace Barber Shop from 1946 to 1963, when Mr. Clay passed away and left the shop to Mr. Thomas. He has operated under the same name ever since, at several locations in Vicksburg. Thomas is active in numerous civic organizations, including the Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, and the NAACP.
