Behind and above Nixon, resting on his shoulders, is a large boulder labeled "Rocky" shaped like the head of Nelson Rockefeller. The cartoon caption reads, "Dick's sitting pretty."

On the ground beside the elephant is a sign that reads "None but Nixon." In the background, a donkey labeled "McCarthy-Kennedy-Johnson contest" hops or bucks, snorts, and says, "Whee." Runtz's signature cat stands with its paws behind its back and comments, "For a livelier campaign." The cartoon caption reads, "Spring tonic, too, for the elephant?"
