Oral history.; Interview conducted on 06-11-1981 with Mr. Wilson Evans II (born 1924). Evans began his long career as a union leader in Gulfport in 1950, later becoming president of the union. This interview covers topics as diverse as his service career, voting rights for black war veterans, and union management. However, race relations remain the common theme, especially relations between white and black union members and the immediate postwar racial climate in Gulfport.
