Oral history.; The Honorable Frank D. Barber was born on April 2, 1929, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Barber attended the University of Mississippi for a year before volunteering for the U.S. Army which involved National Guard work in the U.S. and Germany. Barber returned to school at Mississippi Southern College and obtained his legal training at the University of Mississippi and the National Law Center at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Barber became involved in politics when he was just ten years old and this interest continued throughout his adult life alongside his career in law. Barber's accomplishments are extensive, including many prestigious political and legal positions and membership of a wide array of organizations. In November 1994 he was among the first judges elected to the new ten-member state Court of Appeals. Barber died on March 4, 1997. His wife, children and grandchildren survive him.
