With one hand, he pours hot water from a kettle labeled "Public disgust" into the wash tub. With the other, he holds a small, dirty, long-haired man labeled "Down with everything," who is struggling to stay out of the water. The man holds a bottle with a rag stuffed into the neck. The tub is labeled "Enforcement of laws against riot-exporters, campus lawbreakers." Soap, cloth, and brush are on the floor around the tub. The cartoon caption reads, "Long overdue."

In the distance is a small tent surrounded by men using whips and sticks to hit other men, who are sitting on the ground. A flag labeled "North Korea" with a hammer and sickle symbol is above the tent. This scene is labeled, "Violence on Pueblo captives." The cartoon caption reads, "The outsiders."

From the AAEC Editorial Cartoon Collection; Cartoon by Jon Kennedy. Georgia Governor (and later Lieutenant Governor) Lester Maddox stands behind the counter of a cafeteria (restaurant). The counter is labeled "Maddox political cafeteria." Maddox holds a spoon and looks at his customer, a man labeled "Georgia" who has been drawn to portray a hillbilly. The customer is picking up a serving tray from a stack on the counter. On the wall behind Maddox are signs to advertise the specials, "Half-baked court chops, Rise again corn-pone, Ku Klux Klams, Scortched [sic.] Lyndon burgers, Anti-Commie stew, Lily white cake, Ax handle steaks." Similar signs on the counter read ,"Rebel relish, Barbaqued [sic.] McGill, Segro salad." The cartoon caption reads, "Back in business."

A hand saw, bucket of nails, and cut wood pieces are on the ground beside him. Also in the yard are three doghouses labeled "LBJ, Ike, Harry Truman." The one labeled "Ike" appears older than "LBJ," and "Harry Truman" appears much older. The cartoon caption reads, "Here we go again."

A battered looking elephant labeled "GOP convention" with bandages, blackened eyes, and a crutch, is walking across the United States toward Miami, Florida. Richard Nixon, wearing a band member's hat, is riding on the elephant, looking back over his shoulder at the West Coast, where a scene of destruction labeled, "ITT storm" can be seen. Nixon plays a guitar and sings, "I left my heart...in San Diego." The elephant responds, "Speak for yourself, boss."

The smoke from the exploding cigar is labeled "Limited spending on unemployment." The end of the exploded cigar has dropped to an ash tray and is labeled "Rejection of Dunlop." The label on a box of cigars near Meany reads, "Jimmy Carter's Coronas."

A ragged looking dog labeled "Wolfson affair" follows him. The cartoon caption reads, "And everywhere the Justice goes...."

In the upper frame, labeled "The sixties," a man is frightened as he encounters a two-headed giant labeled "Communist aggression." The giant wears a large hammer and sickle on his suit. One head has a Russian-looking face, the other Chinese. In one hand, he holds a rocket, in the other a club. In the lower frame, labeled "The seventies," the man is startled when he encounters a malicious looking cloud of particles that manifests as a shrouded skeleton labeled "Environmental pollution." The cartoon caption reads, "Every decade has its bugaboo."

He sweats and strains as he carries Attorney General John Mitchell on his shoulders labeled "Legal fees for Nixon defense." Nixon says, "He's not heavy, he's my lawyer."

The floorboards behind Wallace are labeled "Wallace appeal to South." A circle of the floorboards is being sawn from beneath and when complete, the cut area will encircle Wallace and the podium. The line left by the saw is labeled, "Nixon's strong stance on law and order, crime". The cartoon caption reads, "Closing the ring."

A whale [sperm whale?] labeled "Wilbur Mills" lies on a beach far from the water, which is in the background of the cartoon, labeled "Political processes." The eyes of the whale are closed. A man wearing swim trunks stands nearby scratching his head. Footprints show he has walked up the beach from the water. The cartoon caption reads, "Beached."

From the AAEC Editorial Cartoon Collection. Cartoon by Jon Kennedy. Senator J. William Fulbright wears the apron and hat of a grocery store produce section employee. He stands with his back to a huge display of fruit labeled, "Fulbright's Washington regime," and a drop of sweat falls from his brow. A sign on the display stand reads, "Caution...this display took years to build!!" A short man labeled "Bumpers," only as tall as the display table, holds an open sack and looks up trying to decide which pieces to take. The cartoon caption reads, "Nerve-wracking."
