Oral history.; Interview conducted May 23, 2002 in Port Gibson, Mississippi at the Hollingsworth home. Elizabeth "Libby" Hollingsworth was born June 13, 1933, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to Sanfrid Bloomquist Shaifer and Dorothy Davidson Shaifer. She attended school at Leland Elementary and Leland High School before moving on to Rhodes College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. Hollingsworth married her husband, Clarence Alton Hollingsworth, in Leland, Mississippi, on December 22, 1956. Mrs. Hollingsworth has a long and distinguished career. She has worked as the Director of Christian Education for the Presbyterian Church in Mississippi, Arkansas, and California. She has also worked at a nursery school in Connecticut and at the Yale New Haven Hospital. Hollingsworth has also served as a member of the Mississippi Heritage Trust and has been a member of the boards of both the Center for the Study of Southern Culture and of the Math and Science School. She is also a member of the Presbyterian Church.
