Oral history.; Recording log for interview conducted August 23, 2005 at the Alexander residence in Prentiss, Mississippi. Alexander was born on August 31, 1931 in Prentiss and attended high school and junior college at Prentiss Normal Industrial Institute. Before graduating in 1957, Alexander met and married Mary McSwain. He went on to obtain a bachelors degree from Jackson State University in 1961 and to engage in graduate study at other Mississippi institutions. In addition to his service in the Air Force Reserves, Alexander was employed as a sixth grade teacher at A.E. Perkins Elementary School in Biloxi, MS, as well as Howard Toole Elementary School both before and after integration.
