Description: From the AAEC Editorial Cartoon Collection. Cartoon by Eldon Pletcher. Jimmy Carter is sitting behind his desk in the Oval Office, and he appears confused. An aide stands nearby. Three men are in the office to see Carter. The tallest man is dressed shabbily and is labeled, “Recession worsens.” The second man is very overweight and is labeled double-digit inflation.” This third man is very small, wears a hard hat, and is labeled “GNP down." Carter says, “Thought I was scheduled to see 'The committee to re-elect the President!'"
